Workwear Meets the Mat: Hyperfly + Carhartt

Hyperfly and Carhartt WIP have joined forces on a collaborative Jiu-Jitsu uniform that pulls from the toughest corners of both brands' DNA. The result is a Gi that doesn't just perform on the mat. It holds its own as a wardrobe piece.

On paper, a BJJ Gi and a century-old American workwear label seem like an odd match. But spend a moment thinking about what both actually stand for: durability, utility, a no-nonsense commitment to doing hard things well. Suddenly it's the only collab that ever made sense. Carhartt WIP has spent decades making workwear covetable beyond the job site. Hyperfly has long pushed Jiu-Jitsu gear toward something wearable beyond the mat. The overlap was always there.

The kimono top gets the full Carhartt treatment, upgraded with the brand's signature duck canvas, the same tightly woven, battle-hardened cotton that's outfitted workers for over a century. On a Gi, that material hits differently. The weight and texture set it apart before you've even tied the belt.

Carhartt WIP kept everything that makes the original Hyperfly kimono worth owning: the reinforced seams, and the "YOU CAN'T TEACH HEART" slogan stitched right in. What gets layered on top is the collaborative identity, co-branded patches, a Carhartt-inflected American flag on the shoulder, and "Carhartt WIP Squad" embroidered along the seams. The matching pants carry the same branding without overshooting it.

Then there's the tote, wide enough to fit the entire set and built with the same logic both brands share: gear that travels with you through the whole day, not just one context.

Whether you're drilling guard passes before sunrise or heading straight to work after, this Gi doesn't ask you to pick an identity. It just holds up, reinforced seams, canvas weight, and all.
