Nathan Mendelsohn

Black Belt

I started training in 2000 when I was 10 years old! I had been training other martial arts since I was 4 years old and I switched to Jiu-Jitsu when my master Claudio Franca’s academy moved into the shopping plaza right behind my house! It was fate!

My favorite part about Jiu-Jitsu is probably the lifestyle it has allowed me to live and all the opportunities and adventures it has provided for me! And the fact that it keeps me healthy and also sane honestly.

One of the accomplishments I’m most proud of in Jiu-Jitsu is being ranked #8 Adult Black Belt Middleweight in the World by Flograppling in 2018. I was the highest ranked non-Brazilian athlete in the division and the only one in the top team not from a “big” team/association.

Fun fact about myself is that I my other passion outside of BJJ is rapping! I actually make Hip-Hop for/about Jiu-Jitsu that you can find by searching my artist name “Elite Technique” or album series “Kimura Trap” on Spotify, Apple Music or any other digital music platform!
