Hi, I’m Bella Oclaray and my jiu jitsu journey started in January 2023. I started Jiu Jitsu because I was dealing with a bully at my school. My parents always taught me to stick up for others when I see them being bullied but quickly realized that I didn’t necessarily have the skills to defend myself or others around me.

I fell in love with the sport as soon as I stepped on the mat and never turned back. When they say Jiu Jitsu changes lives, they’re not lying. I found a new level of self-confidence and discipline in training. I am now an honor roll student, tutor other students during my lunch breaks, and started a club in my school… all while training 5-6 days a week.

I train at Sektor Jiu Jitsu in Chino, CA under black belt professors Sean Roberts & Nolan Stuart, and coach Myles Javelosa. Learning the nuances of techniques and connecting the skills they teach has taken my Jiu Jitsu to a whole new level.

I have competed 16 times since May 2023, was ranked #1 in 2023 JJWL Jr Teen for Southern California (4th in Jr Teen Global), and hope to have 30 competitions under my belt by Pans 2024.

I’m so honored to be a Hyperfly Junior athlete because they’ve been my favorite brand since the beginning of my Jiu Jitsu journey! Hyperfly was my go-to brand because the fit and quality of their gis was incomparable. But I fell in love with Hyperfly because of their motto, You Can’t Teach Heart. They’re doing so much for the culture of Jiu Jitsu, but the support they give to females in Jiu Jitsu is even more special. As a young female athlete in a male dominated sport, it’s so encouraging to see a major company give so much love to the athletes I hope to become one day.
