This is Hyperfly

Hyperfly is a family-owned Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu gear brand founded in 2011 by Kerstin and Pascal in San Diego, California. What started in a small garage has grown over 15 years into one of the most respected names in BJJ — offering premium gis, rash guards, no-gi shorts, spats, apparel, accessories, and kids gear to athletes and academies worldwide.

Every Hyperfly product is designed for high-performance athletes and built to last — from beginner-friendly options that make quality accessible to everyone, to competition-grade gis worn at the IBJJF World Championships. This is a brand for everyone who trains.

Built from a garage. Grown by a community.

Hyperfly began when Kerstin and Pascal — a mom and dad of three — moved their family from Germany to America, chasing a vision to build something meaningful. They settled in San Diego and started the business out of a small garage, packing orders themselves and taking the brand to every tradeshow they could reach.

In the early days, athletes would come directly to their home. The family put mats out in the front yard to spar, and without fully realizing it, they were building the foundation of what Hyperfly would become — a community held together by a shared spirit and a common belief: You Can't Teach Heart.®

What started as a mantra became a movement. Today Hyperfly is more than a gear brand. It is a global community of grapplers, lifters, and athletes connected by the conviction that heart — not talent, not trophies — is what defines a competitor.

The family behind the brand

Kerstin brings over 25 years of experience in the fashion industry, with deep expertise in building and scaling consumer brands. Her vision and leadership have been central to everything Hyperfly has become.

Pascal studied economics and communication at UCSD and developed a passion for product design on the streets of New York, where he first discovered the fashion world. His hands-on approach to design and innovation has made Hyperfly a trailblazer in martial arts apparel.

Laurenz, their oldest son, has been part of the journey since day one — packing orders from the garage, attending every tradeshow, and growing into the creative force behind much of Hyperfly's visual identity and product direction today.

Sophia, the oldest sibling, manages the inner workings of the business alongside her mom, ensuring every part of the operation runs with precision. Her ability to bring order to complexity has made her invaluable to the team.

Luke, the youngest, focuses on extending Hyperfly's impact beyond the mat. Through the You Can't Teach Heart Foundation, he works to support underserved communities — taking the brand's core values into the world.

15 years. One community.

Since 2011, Hyperfly shared their love for Jiu Jitsu with the whole word. Outfitted competitors at the highest levels of the sport, and stayed true to the values that built the brand from day one. We are a family business — not a corporation — and that shows in everything from the way we design our products to the way we show up for our community.

To have heart is more than to practice discipline. It is to push yourself harder when everyone else quits. It is to put in the work that no one else is willing to. It is not about how many wins or medals are around your neck — it is about how many times you kept going, even when it was hard.
