So I am 5'4" and around 165 - tea kettle build (short and stout) and I got an A2
It fits perfectly.
Aside from fit, I love the material and weight. The construction is quality and I can tell it will hold up well.
I purchased this as a second gi - for training and travel. It will definitely fit in my backpack when traveling for work, which is what I was hoping for.
I am thrilled with my purchase.
This is my 3rd Starlyte gi. I travel often for work in locales that are hot and humid. My Starlyte gi's are LIGHT (which makes for very comfortable rolling) and QUICK-DRYING (which helps to minimize musty odors when hang-drying). Plus, the gi's are very durable. Even though they are much lighter than the standard 450gsm or 550gsm gi's, they stand up just fine against the toughest lapel techniques as well as collar and sleeve grips meted out by my grabby training partners. As I mentioned above, this Black/Purple is my 3rd Starlyte gi. But it won't be my last.
Great summer gi! Fits a little roomy, but super comfortable and durable.
I hear some people refer to the Starlyte as a great “travel gi” because it’s light, easy to pack, and quick drying. All of this is true, but I think they’re underselling the Starlyte’s durability. I own two Hyperfly gis - Hyperlyte 2.0 and Starlyte - that receive equal time on the mats and honestly I don’t notice a difference between the two in terms of durability; they both take punishment equally well. Whether you’re looking for a travel gi or just an affordable everyday gi that feels light as a feather, the Starlyte is a good choice.
